SMARS GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

July 19,2007


Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM.  Officers present were President Lou Ryason, Vice President Ned Davis and Treasurer Jim Holloway. 

Treasurer reported on bank account activities.

Approval of Treasurer's report as published in Feedback was carried by majority of members present.

Dave Gerber gave a status report on the repeaters.

Bill Booth announced the scores for 2007 Field Day.

New VEC chairman announced. Gary Hurt, KC8H.

Remainder of the meeting was directed discussions  involving future and improvements to the club; lack of participation by membership in events and contests; club equipment usage; establishing permanent station and establishing Technician and General licensing classes.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:57 PM

SMARS BOARD MEETING

August 2, 2007

President Lou Ryason called the meeting to order at 7:00 P. M.

OFFICERS PRESENT: President Lou Ryason, V.P. Ned Davis, Sec. Jesse Moreno, Treasurer Jim Holloway, guest Marion Davidson, Editor, Russ Beutler, Trustee.

OLD BUSINESS: Dick Holcomb has retired due to health reasons. Dr. Gary Hurt, we welcome you as the new head VE.

NEW BUSINESS: The club has been invited to participate in the Marshall Airport FLY-IN to be held on Saturday, September 8. The club will setup for the event on Friday, September 7, 8 A.M.  to 4 P.M., there will be a pancake breakfast before the event. A request has been made as to when the club is going to start Amateur Radio License Classes. The board decided to run the classes in the near future.  Classes will be held for six (6) Weeks and classroom sessions will run for two (2) hours. Also General and Extra Class License Classes are planned. As for club membership dues, older members pay for whole year, and new members pay for remaining quarters of year. .

PROGRAM FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST will be Wallace Murray, he is the Michigan ARRL TECHNICAL COORDINATOR. He will talk about various subjects including Digital and will hold a  question and answer
session.

MOTION was made and seconded to Adjourn. MOTION PASSED.
